Live-aboard Marina in Georgia for Catamaran

We just returned from the Bahamas and are required to be north of the Florida state line for hurricane season by our insurance company. We are looking for a marina that has space for Lagoon 410 cat with a 23 foot beam. We do not need to haul it out this summer. We would rather store it in the water and live aboard part-time. Any suggestions?

Brunswick just raised their prices substantially. They now ding you for bowsprits and davits as well as a $24 "environmental" fee.

Thanks for the info. I checked with Brunswick Landing Marina and they don't have any catamaran spots available at this time. Still searching...

Forget Georgia-its a buggy swamp everywhere-- go to Charleston and have fun.

Fellow who bought my former boat just came back from the Bahamas and is going to stay in Little River, SC, north of Myrtle Beach. Don't know about cats. What can go wrong--the heart of the "Redneck Riviera."

Why would you want to be north of Florida for hurricane season?
North of us is where all the hurricanes go.

I'll second the recommendation for Isle of Hope marina. Lovely spot, great staff. buses to downtown Savannah - not cheap, but not exorbitant either. Pretty easy to get back out into the Atlantic should one want to.

Golden Isles Marina has Catamaran space. Good location on ICW. Will need a car to get around to provision and such. New big concern for Hurricanes is tidal surge and Marinas floating higher than their pilings. Make sure you check piling height.

Re: Live-aboard Marina in Georgia for Catamaran

One of the nice things about the Brunswick/St. Simons Island area is that hurricanes are historically very rare.
People argue about why, but my opinion is that it has to do with Brunswick being the westernmost point on the east coast.

There is a dry stack storage on the right after crossing on the bridge into St Simon and condos with docks. I know a bunch of condo/dock owners rent out their slips. If interested walk those docks on a weekend and see if you can get the name of somebody looking to rent one out.

Re: Live-aboard Marina in Georgia for Catamaran

Thanks to everyone for their suggestions. I checked all of them for space but either they were already booked solid or the beam of my catamaran was a problem. I ended up reserving space at Lady's Island Marina near Beaufort, S.C. Next year if I need wet storage for hurricane season I will start the search earlier. I appreciate all the great suggestions in response to this post!
