Lists for Equipment / Tools / Spares etc

Hi
Im wondering if anyone has some lists to start me off with provisioning my new lagoon 380
Im thinking a list for tools showing location onboard
one for safety equiptment
one for food
one for spare parts
one for general stuff
Maybe a spreadsheet in excel
I guess its sensible to keep a copy in the ships manual
Also seeing as I need to buy everything it will help me know what I need to purchase prior to delivery and also where things will fit best?
Thanks !
Monte

Re: Lists for equipment/tools/spares etc

I keep an engineer's notebook. Everything is in it. It is almost always with me. From grocery shopping lists to electrical schematics to pretty woman phone numbers to doodles and cruise logs entries. I fill one notebook up in about a year. At the end of the year the best pages get copied into the ship's records.

Involving a computer in this would be far to cumbersome for me. Although I do use a iPhone for notes and pictures when that's an advantage.

As far as where things a stored on the boat: Well searching is a form of entertainment. It does help to be very orderly. Also I go thru every locker, every one, every bag and box, at least once a year checking for roaches, rust and the usefulness of the contents.

Re: Lists for equipment/tools/spares etc

You should get a folder in the boat with a good chuck of the manual but some are missing.

Google is your friend from then on PDF galore for the missing one. We also get all shop manual for every mechanic engine, pump ect...

For the tools it's really up to you, what do you feel comfortable do you? Do you wish to be ready to do a top overhaul of your engine or just change a bulb?. This will determine what you will need on board.

Spare part where do you cruise will dictate what you take.

After that you have large locker on the lagoon so you don't have to put tools in multiple small one like other boat. So list are not that necessary, but boxes well labeled with content indispensable.

Enjoy the ride enjoy your new toys.

Don Casey had a pretty good article in Sail Magazine during summer 2011, Tools For Your Cruise. It is available online at:

sailmagazine.com/tools-your-cruise

He lists some basic tools you might use for some common problems.
