Leopard 43 Sleeping Accommodations

Hi all! My crew and I are anxious for another sail in the BVI's come this spring, but I recently discovered that our charter company does not allow the salon table to be converted into a bed... Being that we are a group of 9, I am trying to decide whether or not the forepeak berths would be comfortable enough to consider for an adult (for a reasonable nights sleep).

I can't find any size info online for these berths, other then they are for children. Does anyone have experience with this yacht? Thanks!

No windows no air movement. Not at all comfortable but a great storage area

Sleep on the tramps if not raining.

Re: Leopard 43 Sleeping Accommodations

Yeah I'm betting the trampolines will get a fair amount of sleeping on.... I've never sailed a 43, but I've sailed the newer 444 and we had no use for the forepeaks and I didn't pay them much attention. The 43 appears to have a portlight, fan, and light in the forepeak... for purposes of selling this to my crew does anyone by chance know the mattress size of this area?

I would look to the cockpit for additional sleeping area. Covered and less damp than the tramps. Great to have a look out on deck though.....

Re: Leopard 43 Sleeping Accommodations

I know the 43 well, but don't have exact measurements. Narrow at the shoulders, and very narrow at the feet is all I remember. If the person is smallish and shortish, maybe it's a go. Tramps are not anywhere near the ideal situation. First of all, after a few hours they will feel quite hard. Second, depending upon the time of year, it almost always rains a bit sometime during the night. However, the port side cockpit seat is VERY comfortable. It's long enough and a bit wider than on the L45 or 47, for example, so it is not at all cramped. I spent a lot of time there on an overnight passage. If there are no side-curtains, however, you are vulnerable to the rain, again. However, there is nothing that keeps you from taking the cushion from that port side cockpit seat and laying it on the central floor of the cockpit, or up on the flat area forward, just aft of the tramps (except for the rain, again).

Re: Leopard 43 Sleeping Accommodations

Are the bow berths accessible from the deck?

All the ones I have seen accessible from topside had been used for stowing fenders and other stuff. Always looked rather wet to me from that, or leaks.

If one of the 9 din't mind sleeping on the saloon cushions, I'd plan on that.

Only small deck hatches. They are easily accessible from the forward cabins....and extension, really, of them.

Re: Leopard 43 Sleeping Accommodations

This is very helpful thank you, I hadn't really thought of the aft cockpit seating as a possibility - but that would probably be the best! Thank you all for the input!
