Leaving Boat In The Water - Winter

I would make sure that your boat is insured for freezing, i.e. failed seacock or attached hose. Most do not, If your insurance agent says yes, get it in writing. I know boat U.S. does for a rider costing 20.00.

I also keep my boat in the water over the winter and use the following do reduce moisture:

I also keep a Chicken coop heater with a thermostat in the engine compartment.

Hi Wiley. We live in Kansas, and will be living here for another 18 months whilst my husband finishes out his work commitment. Then we will retire. Obviously the boat won't come here.

The boat is currently in Maryland. You probably don't deal much with taxes, but if we keep the boat in Maryland more than 30 days past date of sale... we will owe Maryland taxes in the amount of $15,000. If we take it out of Maryland right after sale and keep it in Delaware we will owe no taxes as Delaware doesn't have sales tax on boats. We also like Delaware a lot, and it has a ton of great sailing options. We will primarily sail on Delaware bay with an ocassional sail on the Chesapeake... Also easy access to Atlantic, where we can sail up the east coast. It's just a great location.
