Paul,
Excellent pics and a really beautiful boat! You deserve to be proud! we would love a cat, but it's not in the finances at this point. Every time I see a cat llike yours, it makes me wish for one all the more. Keep us posted on how it goes!

As you know, due to my 'inexpertise', I am not able to comment on the performance figures of your boat. But the interior looks fantastic. I like the clean finishes and the quality that is clearly evident in the woodwork in the galley
I am sure that you are happy. Fairly big smile in your pics.
We are about to go away for 2-3 weeks cruising tomorrow morning on our L400. However the weather here in the UK is typical August-summer-changeable-wind-mixed-with-rain. And we worked throughout June and July which were really solid consistent sunshine! Wish we had ordered a boat with a doghouse now.
Cheers
Garold

Hi Garold
It is Murphy's law with the weather! I hope you get good weather while you are away for two weeks. I have got sides and backs that completely cover the cockpit for horrible weather, hopefully I will not need them. I am sure you could get somthing similar made if you felt it was necessary. Our winter is being the opposite of what it normally is, has been sunny or partly cloudy mild days and gentle breezes. I reckoned it would change the day my boat was launched, but so far so good. Enjoy your cruise, I look forward to hearing about it when you get back. I will think of you while I am at work!
Safe sailing
Paul

I got the pics and the weight of the rig from Southern spars. the weight of the rig, including furler and standing rigging is 315kg. North estimates the main to be about 50kg. If I assume the screecher, genoa and assymetrical spinnaker to be about 20kg each we are then in an all up weight of about 8 155kg (7 730+315+50+20+20+20). Could probably add another 50 kg for sheets and screecher furler then comes to 8 205kg. I now know why she is sailing so well! I have attached the pics from the first test sail (PS this is winter in CT, note the "bad" weather!)

Go CatMan!
Just had a quick look thru these posts, but CatMan can do his math!
Lots of people, usually the ones with more money, don't know how to add!
It's unavoidable these small cats get overloaded. I saw small at 40' in that I have yet to see a cat under 50' that is truly suitable for anywhere, anytime offshore sailing. In my Pacific sailing the cats in the 40 foot range, especially with families, were the most paranoid about weather forecasts and would waits weeks for a wind aft of the beam.
Anyway, not looking to annoy anyone, but it all adds up!

I agree Paul, your cat looks great. There certainly are some very nice cats that are born in South Africa. All the best to you.

Thanks Paul, she does look sensational (and love the night shot of the cockpit with 'mood' lighting - very cool!).

Congrats on your new boat. So what are your cruising plans?
Chris
PS - Nite shot is cool - you can stand proud next to all of the bling'ed up sport fishermen!
