Re: Lagoons Have Cheap Brass Thruhulls

FYI 2 Lagoons indeed burnt and sunk in the USA while unattended in past few months in USA--a 380 and a 37-both French built. The causes cannot be determined as the evidence has melted

I really have to laugh at some of these clowns who call themselves surveyors ... We've been chatting to a lot of Lagoon owners and other owners of French builds all sailing out here with us ... There are literally hundreds and hundreds of these products out here sailing and these clowns talk of two boats which caught fire and no evidence of what cause it ????
It would be interesting to know how many boats are manufactured ... How many are still floating and how many have sunk.
Once again, you will probably find these guys do not even have their own boats!

Several OP posters here wish to have the Forum be a kind of "self-congratulatory style club'---- wherein they praise each other for their wise choice of boatys and wish Ostrich-like head-in -the -sand zero possible negative info published about their choice of boaty.:devi l:

But you have to admit that The statistics speak volumes ... You don't address this and therefore who is the ostrich with it's head in the sand ... Sorry mate ... But if you are just wanting to bash products because you clearly have your own agenda here ... I'm sure you understand a little 'bashing back'. I cant take you seriously when the stats show differently!

Re: Lagoons Have Cheap Brass Thruhulls

According to the the Lagoon site over 2500 boats have been built.
I found the second boat and this statement by the owner.
""The fire started in the electrical chase underneath the electrical
panel. Looked like a wire had melted through." Indicating the boat didn't burn to the waterline but totaled by the insurance company. No answers as to how the fire started.
George your title to this string is what is inflamitory. You made a statement not a question with no means to back it up.

Re: Lagoons Have Cheap Brass Thruhulls

Your wrong Steve ol boy, a lagoon owner on another forum did indeed tell me his boat had "cheap"brass thru hulls and seacocks" which he changed . and thanks for the info about the wiring that started the Lagoon fire. All Im concerned about are: 1. that my boat does not sink if it can be prevented. 2. That it does not catch fire from a cause that can be avoided. 3.That the sails do not rip and cause me big problems at sea. 4. That the mast does not fall. 5. That the windows and hatches do not leak causing interior damage and mold. see ya
