Lagoon Options and pricing

I am considering buying a second hand or new Lagoon 450F in the Med / France.
I have the Lagoon price list and I'm wondering if I would be better off buying some things after market, like cushions, bimini and clears, cockpit covers, spinnaker and or code zero? I'm not after saving pennies but if its substantial with minimum effort I would.
How much can I expect Lagoon to move on the original price list???

Are the optional engine and joystick controls in the salon worth the extra and do you use them?

From a cost perspective, some of these items pends the labour and material cost where some countries are more cost effective than others i.e. cushions, bimini and clears. However, note that with the covers/clears there is a LOT of measure, measure and cutting involved and Lagoon's supplier has the templates - I would recommend taking Lagoon's option if this is what you want.

Spinnaker, genakker, etc - go out for quotes. I believe you can get a cheaper one as we did (UK Sails genakker). I did take the pole option however.

Optional engine, joystick, remote AP controls in salon: only needed if you are going bluewater cruising. Then you can sit in the comfort of your salon, say during night shifts, and make your course changes. We took this option as we cross oceans and find it very practical.

Its not unheard of getting at least a 5% discount off the list price.

Difficult to say, but the rules of thumb is:the things that are easier to install especially when the boat is still being manufactured and the things that are much cheaper when the factory buys in big quantities are to be taken from the factory. (genset, A/C, electronics, folding props)
Teak floors, bimini, watermaker, curtains, etc. are usually cheaper after market, depending obviously where you get them done.

I second that aftermarket for down wind sails but take the Lagoon prodder fitted with hardware, my Second Hand L450 came sans prodder and the aftermarket supply and fit was more expensive than the Lagoon option new option.

If new I would also order sans Canvas Bimini up top and go straight to a After market / Custom Hardtop.

The pop up TV I found to small so better not having that and fitting your own later.

I would take the extra storage option in the owners version sans the lounge if it is to be your home.

After market for Solar / Inverter setup, don't let any one tell you you can have to much electrical capacity. Power = comfort.

Our boat came with fore deck seat cushions and Upper sun deck day bed all of which are wonderful in situ but are big and bulky to store when not in use when moving.

We left ours in storage and have some flexible bean bag type furniture that can be used where ever needed, ie: not designed for one place on the boat but multi purpose and more flexible in usage and storage.

One option to consider is once you get the boat and use it for a bit...will you want the same options.


We bought used but had a list of upgrades. Several were eventually removed from the list because once we saw how we used the boat, we didn't need or want them.

I just placed an order for a new 450F. I would suggest you consider the difference in price of new vs. used. After searching for several years I found that the difference was not great enough to accept compromise on options and wear. Dealers I attempted to work with within the continental US marked up the options and delivery costs significantly (in excess of 100K) over those offered outside the use.
