Lagoon Galley Down

My husband spotted a 2003 Lagoon 470 (listed at Catamaran Company) that has a galley down. I didn't realize that Lagoons produced any galley down boats. Does anyone know anything about this? Were they only on a particular model year? also, do they have other models (other than the 470) that come with galley down? I've been "shopping" catamarans for 2 years, and this is the first lagoon I've seen with this configuration...

Hi, Scarlet,

go to cata-lagoon.com - they have all current and former models on the website and you can se all the different configurations.

Happy hunting - and I am biased, but the 470 is a real sailboat...

There was also at least one older Lagoon 47 that was galley down. I know the owner of a '93 that is galley down.

The older tpi lagoons were all galley down I thought. Though I dont care for those models they make good use of their space

The TPI's had that as they do in the Lagoon 37 and they are made from balsa core too versus the more "modern" foam core.

Well. ..its a shame they have no current models with gallery down. I really like the use of space. But we don't want to buy anything more than 5 years old.. (for resale purposes).

Re: Lagoon Galley Down

Galley down would be a tough choice. I think they give more space upstairs, but my wife thinks it isolates the cook.
I don't plan to spend much time in the bedroom/master suite, so a kitchen taking space is not a big deal. The tradeoff is obviously larger salon that would be occupied much more often than a kitchen in my opinion.

When we look for a cat, I'm sure my wife will win the battle for the kitchen location being in the salon.

.
I actually like both.. galley up, AND galley down.. good points to each. However, I actually LIKE to be isolated whilst cooking. Don't want to be tripping over people... and I don't like people to see the mess in the kitchen... And, with the lagoons.. they are so bright and airy.. that even the galley down wouldn't be "gloomy"... It was just a really nice configuration... for a lagoon.

After talking with our broker.. she said that they were only made on a few older models. None of the new ones have that...

One of the reasons we bought our Outremer 45 was because it was galley down. My wife is a messy cook(her words). The galley is bigger and in a better place for motion. Also the storage is easier to use. It has 4 opening ports 2 in the outside of the hull, One large overhead and a God size pass through tO the cockpit. It works very well

Wow. I have never seen an Outremer with galley down. Which year is your boat?

It is 2003, I believe that all Outremers were semi custom so this one was drawn up with the galley down and aft on the port side and head down and aft on stbd. It has a fantastic shower
