Lagoon 450 Lpg line for bbq

I am about to mount a weber bbq to the stern rail of my Lagoon 450. Ideally I don't want to also have to mount the gas bottle back there. Does anyone have experience running a gas line from the stern rail to the LPG locker (where the oven LPG bottles are housed). If so, could you let me know how and where you took it?

Which webber did you get ?

I'm looking at both BBQ and gas line right now on a 450. Not seeing an easy way to run a line to the back.

I went with the Weber baby q2000. I am replacing the two lower safety wires between the stainless steel "stantions" ( can't think what they are actually called) with stainless steel tube and mounting the bbq on the upper of the two ( the topmost safety wire will remain and be hooked up when underway. ) I am using a mounting kit I purchased in Australia)

Thanks,

Any chance of a photo ? Especially of the mounting kit. (or part number of it to get in Aus).

Thats the BBQ I'm also looking at, soon as I figure out where to buy one (in Either Turkey or Greece I guess).

I use a 4.5lt stainless steel, free standing bottle. None of the installed gas line hassles, doubles up as as standby for house gas supply if needed. Enables the Weber to be taken ashore to use on beach or moved on to cockpit table if weather dictates. Depends how you use it. Having more use options means you use it more often.

Hi Paulinoz, I guess that is in fact what I might have to do unless someone who has managed it can offer a solution ( I am sure I have seen photos on here of gas lines heading down into the floor of the 450.
Then all I need is get a strap to secure it instead of what I presume would be drilling holes and all manner of contortions. Cheers

I'll be mounting the bbq on the stern rails and plumbing the gas line back to the gas locker soon so I've subscribed and keen to see what you do.
Please post pics of the rail extension as I plan to do the same

Re: Lagoon 450 Lpg line for bbq

If you end up installing it with a line from the locker remove the regulator from the grill and plumb to the low pressure side of your vessel system. I have seen a few where high pressure was run through the hull ahead of the solenoid switch and regulator. Not a great plan. Mounting a cylinder next to it on the rail seems to match up with the KISS method best...

Yes I think KISS is the best way, I will see if my stainless steel guy can fabricate a nice looking mount/holder.
Cheers

Re: Lagoon 450 Lpg line for bbq

Suggest using this as a guide: https://www.boatsafetyscheme.org/med...de%20chap7.pdf

LPG / Propane / Camping Gas is probably the most dangerous thing on the vessel. Whilst an outdoor installation seems 'obviously safe', it may not be unless care is taken.

On review, I think i'm going with a bottle mounted on the stern somewhere, with its own regulator, positioned to drain overboard in event of a leak. One point, Do check the engine air intakes are NOWHERE near the where the propane/LPG would flow if it leaked.

Regards

I have a Lagoon 450S and mounted a BBQ on the outboard bracket. I ran the hose from the propane locker through the big storage locker. It is concealed all the way to the base of the mount and then goes straight up into the BBQ
