My BBQ fitting. Austalian made Galleymate 1100 - needed to move leg mounts inwards. I had a hose specially made to adapt Australian to Turkish and hopefully EU fittings

Re: Lagoon 450 Lpg line for bbq

What I'd really like advice on is the route from the stern into the boat and to the reg. I think hard plumbing would be better or are people using hose for the full run?

Is the stbd side the better side for the BBQ as I was planning on mounting the outboard that side and BBQ to port?

Re: Lagoon 450 Lpg line for bbq

If your going to do it, I'd recomend hose, and keep the number of connections to a minimum ( 'zero' would be ideal).

Running propane through those spaces concerns me, as if any connection leaked, its going to have propane flowing down into the hulls, OR into the engine spaces.. Not keen on either result !.

I still consider proane the most dangerous thing on the boat, so keen to keep it as under control as possible, with as short runs as possible.

In other news, finally found out how to get a Webber Q2000 in Turkey, and it delivers monday, so when I get back to the boat next week (after it gets put back in the water !) will be looking at the BBQ mounting myself. Happy to share how it ends up if interested.

Regards

Mark.

Re: Lagoon 450 Lpg line for bbq

Successfully mounted the weber Q2000 onto new stainless steel stern rail. Went with just two lower rails and after some debate went with having them offset at a slightly elevated height compare to the existing rails. This put the bbq at a more comfortable height and to my eye looked good given the lack of top rail. The existing top wire remains and serves as a safety for the weber. Now just to source a stainless steel gas bottle which will be secured below it.

Re: Lagoon 450 Lpg line for bbq

Very nice Blackduck, how did you end up securing your bottle?

Zuni and Anthony would you mind elaborating on the route of the gas line?
My questions:
Did you keep it to one length of copper pipe from the back of the locker all the way out of the stern of the boat?
What did you sheathe the pipe with to limit vibration?
Did you add a valve after the regulator in the gas locker?
Did you add a solanoid and what type?

I think I am happy with the safety aspect as long as I can do it as least as safely as the lagoon install to the hob and cooker.

I have a cat as well, and am planning a BBQ for it. The wide open layout aft of cockpit seating area and a lack of traditional stern stanchions is pushing me in the direction of getting a Magma rectangular free-standing barbecue.

Re: Lagoon 450 Lpg line for bbq

Having used it a few times now, I'm pretty happy with my Webber + Mount for it, along with the Gas Bottle in a locker on the stern rail. Its a proper locker with overboard drain etc. (See other thread).

Mine is between solar frame poles, but other than that, same ideas as Blackducks.

I'm tossing up putting another locker the same on the other side for a spare bottle.

Regards

Mark.
