Hi Peter,
we have roughly just the same plans than you - provided we will get the boat in July 07... Have you already given the VAT-problem a little thought? To my knowledge, if you are not sailing under EU-flag and purchase a new boat you have to leave EU-territories after 6 months (and may then enter again for some 18 months...). So, see you in Tunesia, Morocco when collecting the stamps... |

Chris & Family (hull 58)
Our plan is quite similar. We were scheduled for July '07 delivery (hull 66), with plans to ARC across to the Caribbean . We will have our two teenaged daughters onboard. They are very positive about the experience, but we have had more than one person question the sanity of spending that much time together is a relatively small space. We all get along well, so I'm sure it will be fine. I think Intentional Drifter also mentioned that his original plan was to join the 2007 ARC. I'm a little concerned that a September delivery makes for some time pressure in shaking down the boat, getting the day-to-day details worked out, and getting down to the Canaries in time to join the ARC. I guess July is a prime delivery month, because it allows European buyers to enjoy the vacation season, still I wonder whether the Lagoon folks would be open to considering the concerns of ARC participants in trying to get us earlier delivery dates. It would require "re-assigning" hull numbers, but I was told by the Lagoon rep at Annapolis that buyers had not been given specific hull numbers at this time. I will talk to my broker about it. He tells me that he has been pressing my case to Lagoon - I have to coordinate with an employer to schedule this 'sabbatical', the timing of the crossing, etc. Maybe if several brokers speak up for their clients who want to join the ARC Lagoon will see some advantage is making those boats available in time for successful particiaption in the rally. Whatever happens, we are very excited about the boat and the trip. We will have to deal with the circumstances as they come and make the best of it. Charlie P.S. Photos of the boat at Annapolis are still on my wife's digital camera, which has not yet come home. When I get them, I'll try to post the good ones. |

Attached please find a few of my pictures fron the Annapolis show. ( I hope, as I don't know where these attachments will end up!) I'll post my thoughts on the boat (Hull #2) in a separate thread. Does anyone have a picture of the large battery chargers or at least remenbers the manufactures name? It started with "A" and was something like "ARCG"? Douglas Hull #11 Martha R

Many thanks, Doug -- keep 'em coming!
A couple of questions provoked by these pics: 1. What sort of refrigeration was on this boat? Were they the factory options? They look like self-contained refrigerators -- brand, model? 2. Moving around the boat, how were the handholds placed? Any that should have been there, but weren't? 3. That electrical panel -- doesn't look to have any extra breakers on it, or are there supplemental panels, elsewhere? Any other thoughts? Thanks. ID

One more question -- in your engine shot, that looks like an A/C compressor just to the left of the motor -- is it? What do they think about having something that can sweat and run condensation, being so close to all that critical wiring?

So, Mike, did you pick up Jeannius in France? How was the sail out of the Bay of Biscay?
