Jensen 37 aka Coral sea 37

Does anyone know anything about the Jensen 37. They seem to be OK but I have never come across one before.

Any thoughts appreciated.

They've got a wing keel so they must go fast

Yep

Not bad, built in WA (thats Western Australia not Washington),pretty good build, more than reasonable all round boat, a little heavy in their day, but these days quite okay when you see 12 tonne 40 footers. If they had a fault at all it was they squeezed a little too much into the 37 feet. But they got most of the fundamentals correct.

You could do a lot worse, (as usual get a really good MULTIHULL surveyor)

Thanks, as always, Factor.

I haven't looked at one yet but am hoping to do so ASAP.

Thanks

Great boats we launched ours in 04 and love it may not be the fastest cat but very good strong extended cruiser livaboard .On ours we rigged it with a allyachts mast as I was not a fan of the white stick mast.I can remember the boat you are looking at when it was launched looks to be a bargin at that price .

Don't know much about them... it looks very nice.

I notice that it has spectra running back stays which is something I haven't had much experience with. Am always wary that I would forget to put them on but from experience I notice if the mast is pumping I forgot to put them on. My personal preference on a cruiser would be to avoid running back stays for simplicity however they are probably a performance benefit and useful with stay sails etc.

Can the engaged running stays impede an accidental gybe?

Also has a rotating carbon mast. No experience with rotating masts but I think on a cruiser I would prefer again simplicity and have a non rotating mast.

Looks like a sweet boat just a couple of my own ideas for you to consider.
