Hi Category4jay,
We were shopping for a cat at the time I wrote that. We bought an Antares 44i after doing our homework and are very happy with it, and with cruising around the world on her. www.svGoldenGlow.com

Re: ISARA 50 - Performance Under Sail?

I think their website says 19t. Does not sound like optimized for performance. I think it is a comfort boat.

barnakeil,
That data on displacement is incorrect - Indigo's weight as measured in San Diego at haulout was 22,500 lbs.

Re: ISARA 50 - Performance Under Sail?

Seems the question of the Isra 5o's performance under sail remains ??????

If it was a good under sail we would have heard by now.

I doubt it. Maybe 22.5t.

ISARA YACHTS - Luxury semi-custom catamarans

Look at Outremer 51 @ 9.9t then look at Isara 50, compare their standard equipment: can they be the same weight?

Highly unlikely.

Re: ISARA 50 - Performance Under Sail?

The Antares website lists the displacement at 22,500 pounds which I assume is lightship. The A44 does use foam core for it's structure and some or all of the furnishings are honeycomb core. That's why it's so expensive.
Antares 44i: Specifications / Layout

The Lagoon 440 has a claimed lightship of 26,791 pounds so I think the Antares figures are close.

FWIW On the first page of this thread they say the I50 is supposed to be 17 tons.

Re: ISARA 50 - Performance Under Sail?

hi sand crab,
The Antares 44 uses solid fiberglass to waterline then the whole hull and deck is constructed from vacuum bagged resin infused foam with a carbon fiber cross-beam for main sheet traveller area.
All furniture is constructed of light-weight cherry faced Trycel honeycombed panels which are very lightweight but strong.
The builders take overall weight and weight distribution pretty seriously.
