Interior colour scheme and details
Im halfway through an interior refit on out 37ft cat and seeing the light at the end of the tunnel, albeit through a lot of sanding dust, so am now at the stage of considering what to do with our saloon colour scheme for squabs, interior colours etc.
its a bit hard to post photos of it in its half finished state as there is crap everywhere but we've got a basic upstairs galley and dinette arrangement to seat 8 all opening to the cockpit and are looking for ideas.
Post me some pics of ideas you've got or stolen (oops sorry borrowed) from other boats/websites.

Re: Interior colour scheme and details
If you want something unique, colorful, & pretty, that you won't find on every other boat, check out some of the interiors in the listings here Bateau d'occasion Raiatea-yacht.com - Broker I find them quite pretty, & refreshing. In that they do reflect much more Joi de vivre than wood, varnish, & white paint.
Dare to be different!

I didn't see anything outside the norm on that website. However, if you are looking for refreshing, modern interior styling then you need to eye the European boats.
Goto this website and view the back issues, which you can flip through online:

Re: Interior colour scheme and details
I'm an interior designer for homes, and I work with color a lot. So, I can help you with color. First where are you going to sail? How do you want the boat to feel? warm & cosy? open & airy? energizing? restful?
And what are the colors that you like the most?

Re: Interior colour scheme and details
I like what they did with this interior. They took one settee out and replaced it with storage.
I Love the colors too! it's joyful.

Re: Interior colour scheme and details
You got me looking at Sunbrella & other fabrics, I'm going to have a boat in the next 6 months, and I know that I'll be redoing the interior...
Here is a couple of color schemes that I put together. I also forgot to ask you if you are the only one that's going to own the boat? Do you want a masculine interior?
- interior seat cushions for settee
- back of settee
- curtains - pearl white with a nice texture, looks like silk
The least expensive of the schemes. The grey will hide dirt, and I don't think it's too dark for the tropics.

Another idea, masculine but not stuffy, has a world wide feel to it.
Settee (looks black on my screen but it's a dark blue)
cushions for interior
Use white for the curtains.

Re: Interior colour scheme and details
And then there's the type of thing that I would do, because I'll be in Mexico and I really love color and pattern
- seat of settee
- back of settee
- curtains
- just to see how the warm teak color coordinates

I really like this one, other than the pink "nest" up forward. And if you put a fold down/fold out table on the bulkhead, it would be easy to put folding seats on the port side in the Saloon, so that you still had full seating should you be entertaining.
Nice colors & use of space. And it surely makes for a nice change from what you see most manufactuers using. Plus it's an incredible facelift for a boat from the '70's!

Re: Interior colour scheme and details
I agree with you, I think it's a good use of space. The pink nest is a bit too pink, but they did such a good on the rest of it, I'll give it a pass.

Re: Interior colour scheme and details
We find we can achieve a lot of colour and effect (both on our beloved vessel and others) with cushions and flameless candles. If your refit is starting from 'scratch', it may be an idea to keep your basic colour choices/palate fairly neutral...and then add colour to your taste with cushions and candles. The neutral palate will both allow you to change your mind over time...and it will also make your vessel ultimately more marketable if/when you decide to sell.
The real expertise we offer is our Admiral and she would be happy to chat with you further (and construct some color packages suggestions to suit) if you'd like to PM. We attach a few images here from our vessel; these cushions are our own designs and exclusive, but we also supply other beautiful cushions to suit vessels. There are many more color choices in both cushions and candles... Cushions and Candles, Floating Impressions ...
In any event, we wish you well with your refit project...and fair winds and following seas when you are underway!

I know it's a personal thing, but some of those colors make me seasick!

Re: Interior colour scheme and details
Not much in the way of originality in yacht interiors... sad but true... the woody cosy antique look or what is called Ikea or Italian modern... My wife wanted to put fringe on the sail cover and girly loking things... a joke... why not?
