I have sailed with a Profurl in boom Furler for 2 years on my St Francis 48. After 600 miles the boom broke of near the mast wihout any abnormal winds , the result , almost one year until it was very poorly repaired, I still own the cat but it still shows.I feel that getting a in boom or for that matter a in mast furler is a mistake due to the complexity of it and the fact that the sail shape is never 100 %
We build the fastCat 435 and 525 and shortly the new 405 but will not offer the in boom furling a san option. instead we use the Dutchman Sail Flaking system and that works good. I can set a reef in 30 seconds from the cockpit without any problems
I can advice anyone to install this Dutchman sail flaking system just make sure that they do the initial drawing for you to make the holes inm the sail at the right location
