I'm Still Around

Hi folks...
Just wanted to pop in and let you know I'm still around lurking.

I ended up having to have some surgery to fix something I've been suffering with for a long time and have been completely out of commission. Now don't laugh... the only reason I fixed it was so that I would be able to move about the boat better.

I am VERY sad that I'm not going to be at Miami this week. So, I hope someone will pop in and give me a review. I'm particularily interested in everyone's opinion of the Leopard 40...

Also, on a monohull note, thought I'd give you a "9 month cost of ownership" rundown on our 30 year 22' Oday"

Boat price $3000
licensing $30
Partial year slip fee $1500
New mainsail and reconditioning of genoa and jib $850
New mainsail cover and Jib bag $300
Tuning, reconditioning and repair on motor $120
slip fees for 2015 $2000
haul out and bottom cleaning $85.00
fabric for curtains pillows and berth bedding (c'mon.. I'm a girl!!!) $75.00
misc tools, parts, battens, gas, nuts, bolts, etc... $200

Year 1......$8160

GOD I love owning a boat!!!! LOL

anyway... didn't want you all to think I disappeared...

Scarlet....

Your list is glaring absent of....

Sailing Fluid....
i.e. Adult beverages....

I suspect your actual cost of ownership is far greater than listed...

Hey Happy!!! how are you!!?!?

as far as adult beverage.. I"m not sure if that is a cost of ownership? or just regular living expenses..

But, I did forget gas and wear and tear on our vehicles.. (our boat is an hour and 10 minutes from where we live.. )

I learned a long time ago never add up your boat cost per year.....it is bad for your heart...I will sell it when I can no longer afford it. Kind of like having kids if we knew how much they cost we would not have them.

Re: I'm Still Around

Well, I think the thing is, my husband and I take really good care of our stuff, and want to keep it in tip top shape. The previous owner didn't take great care of it. We are trying to get it to the best condition we can. We love our boat, and trust me, it shows. After one season, it looks 10 times as good... and with the new mainsail, and reconditioned Jib/genoa.. it should perform much better as well.

I've never understood people who don't take care of their things.

Doing well oh impassioned one! Hope you two are well too....

Oh man... COABOAB (cost of adult beverages on a boat) far exceed any regular expectation of related expenses.... I'll come back here with a brief primer in a bit...

The hour commute does indeed increase the cost, as well as decrease spontaneous sails... The Morgan commute went from 1hr to 30hrs... You can guess what happened there...

Momma said it was always inappropriate to comment on a lady's bottom...
