I Bought a Reynolds 21 Catamaran

Looking for other owners, maybe some suggestions on keeping the net on and launching faster! I say tho, get up early and and start drinking with friends to rig it!

Cool little cat, how do they sail compared to a decent beachcat?

Re: I Bought a Reynolds 21 Catamaran

well all i know is she is fast there is some rigging but im not gonna sweat it! there is always some type of work to anything that you tow, i will be looking at it to make it easier to launch well quicker but im gonna just enjoy the speed! I will leave her dry docked setup so its ready to go in the summertime!..

Re: I Bought a Reynolds 21 Catamaran

You might want to check out this site. Looks like a new company is building on the original Reynolds plans:
www.wingzsailboats.com

They may be able to help with some of your questions.

I have a Tomcat 6.2 which is a bit different than your boat, but also trailerable with a 8HP Honda engine. We commission in the spring and decommission in the fall so the aggravation is only twice a year. She's in a slip at a marina all summer and in a boatyard offseason.

Fair winds...

Re: I Bought a Reynolds 21 Catamaran

We sail in Barnegat Bay NJ, which is part of the ICW along the East Coast. We have several inlets that go out to the Atlantic but I don't know that we will ever be that brave since we only have the 8 HP motor. Plus, the Manasquan and the Barnegat Inlets can both be pretty tricky, currents wise.

Here's our boat:

TomCat Boats Designer & Manufacturer of Exceptional Catamarans

Like all cats, she drafts 8" with the ctr board/rudders up. Which is great because the Bay is very shallow in spots.

You may want to think about keeping your boat on a mooring ball as an alternative to trailering back and forth to your launch site. Then you only have to drop and stow the sails once your done. Saves all the set up and break down time.

Where are you sailing?
