Re: Hydrovane on a Cat

With a tiller helm I have used a spare line fixed at one end, a clove hitch over the tiller and an unused winch on the other side. Very fine tuning can be had by rolling the clove hitch and then locking it by tensioning the line.
Similarly with the present wheel helm a similar setup with a couple of half hitches either side of a spoke does the same job.
Just don't use the bitter end of the active jib sheet as the line.

Re: Hydrovane on a Cat

Paul Howard. Many thanks for your really helpful post, we will definitely learn from your experiences, that’s much appreciated.

Candence, another good idea, never thought of cam cleats, that could really work & would be quickly released in a emergency, I’ll invest in two & try both the bolt & the cam cleat as we have the bolt fitted now.

Also many thanks to Frugal for your feedback as well

This forum is fantastic for ideas, it’s great to get real ideas from people who know what their talking about.

Thanks everyone
