Around here ally yachts are called aspirins.
Yet in France
they are called mainstream...
I suspect that the difference between attitudes is that in France
the alloy yachts are designed and built by firms that have been doing so for decades. In Oz, at least in the eastern parts
where we hang out, alloy yachts are one-offs, often built by folks with little yacht experience. The results are predictable... asprins!
Of course, there are exceptions! We know at least one extremely fine Oz designed and built alloy yacht (Volo) which is over twenty years of age and which has just returned from a 9 year cruise
which included both Cape Horn and Labrador... and she looks pretty damn good and has no electrolysis
