Defender has / had the 14 x 40 Nikon Stabileyes refurb for less than $800, so I told my wife I bought them for her, does that count?

Range/flying time and weather capability would be considerations with a drone. I couldn't get the link you gave open, but think about how much range is needed to scout an anchorage. Anchor is a good idea.

Fair passage, DR

Re: Holiday Gifts For Sailors

Hate to bring this up at so late a post but in the spirit of us all learning -- a Sexton is "is an officer of a church, congregation, or synagogue charged with the maintenance of its buildings and/or the surrounding graveyard" or as in artillery "a self-propelled artillery vehicle of World War II"

But all your good ideas on gifts from large to small are though inspiring -- but as the vendor on here said time for buying and shipping grows short now

OK How about a game of Testicle Toss? https://www.google.com/search?q=test...sm=93&ie=UTF-8

I see that since we bought ours, some PC-killjoy has politely renamed it Ladder Toss. Not a realistic name since ladders are not tossed. You can still get the T-Shirt. This is a fun game anywhere and a great ice-breaker. Add beer for more fun.

Whoa there! What is there about our great ranges of items like...
...that are NOT "gift ideas for her"?!? Our Admiral goes to great effort to find beautiful and often unusual items to please the hard-to-please...

In fact, it can sometimes be a struggle to squeeze our boys' stuff (solar panels, underwater scooters, shark shields, kayaks and lots more...altho the Admiral likes all that stuff too!) through the Admiral's product selection process!

Re: Holiday Gifts For Sailors

My wife put together a holiday list on our blog where you might find some good stuff. I also posted about the best sailing books of 2014; I think any of them would make a great gift if he does not have them already.

sheeit... my wife won't let me touch her rigging gear. Bit chauvinist of you to suggest that anything that's been suggested wouldn't work for both guys and gals.

She has well told me that if I ever buy her kitchen or home implements as gifts, I might well find them returned in my orifice of her choice

A sexton is a older title for the maintenance or custodial person in a church. Fyi.
