Help needed Pueto Rico/Dental/Apartment/Buying a boat

I want to go to PR. I want to A) Get some extensive dental work done It will take a few months.B) get a long term apartment in the general proximitry.C) Be close enough to where I can see sailboats for SALEl.D) Learn how to spell proximitry. If anyone has a good idea or two, or three, I would love some help. I am open to other suggests regarding other countries, as long as the other countries are somewhere close to the same, you know, p r o x i m i t r y. I'm so confused. Thanks I hope!TY

Re: Help needed Pueto Rico/Dental/Apartment/Buying a boat

Some friends of mine that live in the BVI - almost next door to Puerto Rico - went to Costa Rica to have their extensive dental work done. Seemed to work well and presumably was cheaper otherwise they wouldn't have gone that far.

If you go to Puerto Rico, the easiest place to get cheap accomodation will probably be near San Juan, but the place to go to see sailing boats is Fajardo which is some distance away.

That is very good info, Jeanius. Would there be places to rent long term in Fajardo? Costa Rica is another idea. Thank you!

The Bumfuzzles went to Cuba and had dental work done for a song. There was that little issue of no available novacaine. But you can handle that, can't you?

Panama City has excellent health care, modern equipment and reasonable prices. There are lots of high rises with apartments for rent, plus a number of small B&B type places that might work out. Plus the boat for you is sitting in the anchorage Las Brisas as a FSBO: http://www.cruisersforum.com/forums/...rs-105618.html

Mexico is a lot closer than Puerto Rico and lots of people here have teeth so there are lots of dentists at about 1/6- 1/10 the price of California.
Glue on a crown quote in Santa Cruz, $350.00.
Crown glued on in Ensenada, $20.00. Same 3M glue.

BTW, there are some apartments above Calle Primera in Ensenada (The fancy gringo street) across from La Estancia Cafe for $150.00 a month. You can see the bay. 5-6 hour drive from SB.
I used to get from Rosarito Beach to Morro Bay in 7 hours, leave at 10:00 at night and there's no traffic.

I you come to puerto rico and want to see sailboats for sale... Fajardo at the east coast is your place... Puerto Del Rey, Sea Lovers, Villa Marina, Isleta Marina, Puerto Chico.... there you will see different boats to... plenty of apartments in the area... about dental care... it is not as cheap as in mexico, costa rica, dominican republic...
