Help Deciding on a Tri besides Dragonfly & Corsair
Hi! I would like to know of Trimaran builders besides Corsair and Dragonfly (I know about them). Any country is fine. I want to know of the smaller shops and good custom builds. I am aware of Farrier (they are high on my list). The features I am looking for are: 1) livability--few weeks to a few months 2) trailerable--foldable, not mountable, amas 3) 27-38' (31' seems about right) 4) SAN/ATC Core-cell construction (No PVC, no divinycell, no balsa. Carbon fiber is good.) 4) Nice interior. Pacific Seacraft or Morris nice. If I have to I'll take it to a refitter or a builder to have them redo/create the interior that is OK though. 5) New build. Many thanks!

Check out Tremolino tris. And the Contour line. I think the C34 is the biggest foldable, trailerable tri around. Here's a pic of it half folded.
BTW The Contour 50 is demountable but you have to use a semi to haul it. It's a cool concept especially if you want to get from the east coast to the west coast of the US. Or vice versa.

Re: Help deciding on a Tri besides Dragonfly & Corsair
Used to race on a Corsair F-31 -- don't believe the rubbish you read in the sales material about it taking 30 minutes to set-up! Probably true of other foldable-trailerables too.
Recently sailed a Telstar 28. Performance is pretty good (nothing like a Corsair of course, but good), but it is quite snug down below so might not meet your comfort expectations.
Also have a friend with custom build based upon a Chris Whlte "Skyhook" design -- impressive boat. Way fast, and (for a tri) reasonably comfortable down below. But, the ama's are removable for transport -- not folding.

Very limited market. For the interior you want there is only one builder -- Dragonfly.
Otherwise you'll need to go custom. Check out PT-11 by Performance Multihulls

The nice interior along with trailerable is going to make it tough because the max width is 8' 6" (which just happens to be the width or shipping containers). When you add in the amas, that drops the width to about 5' 6" or so. Then you have the depth vs windage issue to contend. That makes for a pretty spartan interior.
Sill, if you willing to consider other ones that might work, you might consider something like a .

What brands are these? Neglected, forgotten, at a marina in OK City a year ago.
I would purchase one of these to play with. Looks like a great sailboat design.

Looks like a Farrier to me, or at least a takeoff of one of his designs.

Thank you for the names. I had not found these in my searches. They are on my list!
Just found pics of a Contour. That is the kind of boat I am looking for. Thanks again!

Both are long out of business. Neither will give the interior finish you want.

Yeah, I had figured the 30min was hype. Thanks for confirming my skepticism. I sail a NACRA 5.2 now and the guy I bought it from said 30min to water, but it takes me an hour. Humph!
Telstar is on my list. Thanks.
And I did find the Skyhook. Nice boat.

I was afraid of that. Thanks for the info. Seems like there would be a market for light + fast + stable + luxurious. Odd.

Why afraid? I have owned 3 Dragonfly tris (still own my third). Very nice boats.

Ahh. But I live in a crazy State (North Carolina). Horrible speeding laws, but we love boaters.
In NC, boats on trailers between 8 ½ - 9 ½ feet in width may be towed on
weekends, holidays and at night (dusk-to-dawn). And boats between 9 ½ - 10 feet can be towed on weekends and holidays, but not at night (dusk-to-dawn).
My thinking is to only trailer once a year or every 6 months as it is only 1.5-2hrs to the nearest river to the ocean. Yea for NC boating laws AND get a radar detector.
Thanks for the information on the Seaclipper. Interesting.

Looked up PYO from the hull number, company out of business 1988
Deprecated Browser Error
Seems odd there were two of these at the same marina unless they made a bunch of them in 5 years. Made in Houston.
