Heading to Bermuda and the Bahamas. Where to anchor or moor?

Leaving Maine in the fall. For those of you who have sailed to Bermuda and/or the Bahamas, any tips on where to anchor or moor a tri as we cruise through? Anywhere you thought was good place to be? The boat is 46'. Thx in advance?

Except for the shipping channels, you can anchor anywhere. You will clear in at St. Georges. Our world famous Bermuda Harbour Radio will call you at about 50 miles, iirc, To warn you of our north reef platform which extends about 9 miles. BE CAREFUL. The southern coast of Castle Harbour is beautiful scenery, as is Shelley Bay and Gibbetts Island along our North Shore. Charts are a mix of bouys . Red Right Returning, but odd -numbered the UK way. The Grotto Bay area is popular but Swing Bridge is closed For repairs until next summer. Check on-line for full info fron Bda Har Rad.

How long are you out for? That'll be a great trip! I don't know Bermuda, but the Bahamas are my fav. Make sure you get the Explorer Charts and a good set of cruising guides. Anchoring won't be an issue most places, and docking of course you will need to research where you can fit on an end dock. Our favorite places tend to be the less touristy and less populated areas. Top up your provisions in Nassau, then head to the out islands. The Exumas are wonderful - Allans, Normans, the Land and Sea Park, Compass, Big Major, Staniel, Farmers, Georgetown. Then there is Eleuthera, Long Island, Conception, Rum, I could spend many seasons with that list and be very happy with the fishing, beaches and diving. Unfortunately we can only go for a couple of weeks at a time now... Last trip we did Georgetown north up the Exuma chain with a detour (195 nm round trip) to Rum Cay to visit a buddy and hang out, then flew out of Nassau.
