Gemini Hull repairs,

Years ago I seen the pictures of inside the Gemini Factory as the Gemini was being built,
It showed all the hulls and components inside the hulls as it was being built,

I need these pictures for my new repairers so the can see inside the hulls and repair my Gemini Catamaran,

My Gemini needs two almost complete hulls replaced, and piccys would make it so much easier for them,

As they can see what is inside them, mainly around the centre board boxes as there is no way to see inside and behind them, with out cutting the hulls apart,

I have searched all over the internet and cant find them again,

Any links or info would be appreciated,

Previous repairer had it for four years and still has not completed the works,
I have had the Contract voided and now have new repairers to rebuild my boat,

Thank you Brian,

Re: Gemini Hull repairs,

Catalina Yachts is building the Gemini now. You may want to call them or Gemini.

Rebuilding two hulls is like building 2/3's of a new boat. What happened?

Good luck.

Thanks for the info,
Its just the skin on both hulls that need replacing,

Got chucked up on the beach in a violent storm,

In that case, it should be fairly straight forward. The Gemini is single hulled solid glass (admittedly not your inch thick tank type hull). Unless it's drastically out of shape, it should be a straight forward project for a fiberglass guy who knows what he's doing.

Maybe I'm not understanding. Do you have any pictures?

Re: Gemini Hull repairs,

Its just the skin that needs replacing, about 8 feet of it on both hulls,
From where it was rocking on the rocks,
Half in, half out of the water,
I stepped off the front of the boat in knee deep water,

Re: Gemini Hull repairs,

Sounds like you've had a bad run with your repair Mr B as I recall taking these photos in March 2013 and I was confident your repair was going really well, however things certainly do get murky when it comes to centreboards. I feel your pain.

Very little has changed since 2013, Mate, Bugga all in fact, I just got fed up with him,

VCAT Has ruled in my favor, Voided the contract, He must return my deposit, All Drydock fees incurred for 4 years, and legal costs,

The Judge said he gets a lot off very Shonky Dealers and Shonky Work in VCAT, But mine was the worst by a long way he had ever dealt with,

He gets informed of the decision, then time to pay, No payment, the Sherrif goes in and grabs any thing of value,
Not sure what happens after that, But it may put him out of business,

It may start the other boat owners to do the same, he has quite a few boats in the same position as me,
Suing him just gives you a legal bill and no results, He works on that, He has no assets, He openly states, Sue me, I have nothing you can get from me,

I now have two new repairers looking at my boat, It will be finished this year,
Four months work to complete it,

Re: Gemini Hull repairs,

That sounds like a good result apart from a significant delay and expense; would have put a dint in your plans for sure.

Let us know when the launch party is. I'll be there to see you off.

How's your neighbour going working on his Farrier 40 tri from scratch? He still had a long long way to go when I last spoke to him!

The party will be a big piss up, Hahahaha
Just relief its all over and I can cast off for the Kimberlys, Finally,

He has the out riggers made and almost got the main hull built, Its looking great,
He has done a marvellous job on it, Makes me jealous watching him,

Re: Gemini Hull repairs,

Brian,

Sorry to hear about your troubles.
I used to have a Gemini and was a member of the Yahoo Gemini User Group. I have seen the photos you refer to there, posted by a member who took a factory tour. So I would recommend that you join that group and search for the pics.

Best of luck,
John

Re: Gemini Hull repairs,

Have you considered doing the repairs yourself? Unfortunately I've found some "professional boat builders" are really shonky rip-off artists.

I have just joined the Yahoo users group, Its a matter of going thru thousands of images, Its a hard site to follow, But I will get thru them,

Those are the piccys that I seen, I have tried all sorts of search terms, but still came up empty,

Cheers, Brian,

Thats some thing I am seriously considering, Doing the repairs myself,
It isnt as hard as some people make out,
I can use sheet Fibreglass, It comes in 6 metre lengths and 5 and 6 mm thicknesses, That would make repairing the Hulls a breeze and it would be dead straight,
Years ago, I converted two wooden speed boats to fibreglass shells, So I have done it before successfully, and with no problems,

And asking around amongst all the people that are in the industry and people with boats.
There are a lot of shonkys out there, Its a matter of finding the good ones,
I do agree with you,
Its not a nice thought, but it is a fact, Unfortunately,
