Forward Traveler for Jib ?

I saw this cat that had a traveler at the very front of the bow where the tack of the jib could be positioned along the traveler. This curved traveler was positioned so that it looked like you took a standard traveler and flipped it over. Is there a name for this type of system and does it work? BOB

Re: Forward traveler for jib?

You were probably looking at a Gemini? The traveller is I understand for mounting screechers and spinnakers. I am sure some Gemini owners will be able to provide info.

Re: Forward Traveler for Jib ?

Thanks Factor but it definately wasn't a Gemini. This boat was bigger and a custom and now I can't find it on the web. Also this one had the traveler all the way to the front and had no center nacelle. The traveller was a long one and went from hull to hull. Just one big tramp instead of 2. It was a unique and interesting design and I was just wondering if this was a good idea. In other words, what does this guy know that everyone else doesn't know? BOB

I agree with Factor. The track is for changing the position of the tack for a asymetrical or screecher or any of anumber of downwind sails to get them out of the shadow of the main. Works great on a cat.
