Flyin Hawaiian Breaking Up?

On SA there was a post that she broke up today and the occupants had to be rescued. I called the Monterey CG and they said I should call the SF CG because that's there the helis fly out of. SF said there was a catamaran that did break up but wouldn't give me the cat's name.
The FH left SF about a week ago and was said to be out past the Golden Gate. There's no facts but only second hand info. But it hasn't been seen in the bay either.
Call the SF CG and see if you can get the name. (415) 399-3520

It was the FH.

I think the only thing Hot Rod really ever wanted was to get a helicopter ride.
Today he got his wish.

If he uses his claimed meteorological skills, he could sit on the beach and wait for the detritus to come ashore and rebuild it.

Glad everyone is safe. Alas the ending was not unsurprising.

Re: Flyin Hawaiian Breaking Up?

Hot Rod had a great run with the FH. I wonder why he chose to leave his easy life in Richardson Bay and venture out into the open ocean. Thank goodness no one died.

I hope the CG releases video of the rescue so we can possibly learn the point of failure in the boat. Did a hull break off from the bridgedeck? Did the skin of a hull bust open from wave pressure? After looking at all the construction pix and finished boat pix over the years, I'm curious how it all played out in a seaway.

It's been rather calm in SF for the past few days. Wonder what the sea state was when this happened. 120 miles out? Hmmm....
