Re: Finish work on Cats

As someone who is building their own cat i can understand why finish levels are not always what is expected for the $$$.i have found that the finishes take an extraordinary amount of time to do an acceptable level.labor costing what it does i can see why the commercial chaps may skimp on the finer example is when i am making an epoxy fillet,it takes no time at all,but the cleanup and smoothing down is where the time goes.
cheers paul.

Re: Finish Work on Cats

We purchased our Catana in 2010 after 18 months of research. We started out planning on buying a new boat, but the quality and level of finish was very poor compared to Catanas built 8-10 years ago. Not to mention the extra $100K required to fit out the boat for offshore. Our 2001 Catana 471 is just beautiful. African cherry throughout, incredible attention to detail, and every offshore feature we could ever want. We are very glad we decided to buy used instead of new!
