Maybe fast, but just awful helm position/design

Re: Fastest cruising cat in the world?

I do kind of wonder what you would see from that helm position. The view over to starboard would not be good. If there was a kid in an Opti over there I doubt you would see him. Imagine docking starboard to . . . . . scary.

Re: Fastest cruising cat in the world?

My guess is the fastest cruising cat would be the gunboat 90. But certainly not in the sub $2 million range.

I'm currently working at The Boatworks. She's certainly a beautifully finished boat.

Re: Fastest cruising cat in the world?

Are these considered catamarans or trimarans?
At their speeds, you don't need sleeping quarters, they will get there before lunch.

Spoke to Julian on the boat at Mooloolaba. He believed a touch under $2mill but was not aware of the cost of sails. They were pretty expensive sails. Beautiful boat.

Another one nearly finished at Stallion. Pretty impressive interior. Estimated cost $2.5 mill +.

Most likely a MCA 60 would give a gunboat a run for its money.

When are you getting your cat, Polux ???

Re: Fastest cruising cat in the world?

This boat will be a fast cruising boat for sure. Whether is really fast will depend on its displacement and where that figure sits within in the design range set by Jeff Schionning. There are examples of the G1500 that have distinctly different performance - Mojo for instance is a winner over her sisters because she is very light, but shorter on creature comforts. This one's fridges look like they could store a ton or two!

MC2 60

If I had the money I would go for a trimaran with folding arms but they are just too expensive. The problems with cats is that I like them sportive and that means that one for solo sailing while cruising fast should have at least 45ft, to feel really safe while pushing it. No money for that and even if I had too many expenses and work for my taste. I have already a lot of work with this one
