Episode #9: St. Martin to Montserrat

On this episode, we begin at Maho Beach, St. Martin as we watch the jets take off right in front of us; Aaron takes the drone up for a couple of test flights, and we take care of a real crappy problem aboard Catchin’ Rays. But then we set sail southward to gorgeous Saba on an epic day of sailing where we find a mooring on the upper west side of the island. We continue working our way down to St. Kitts and then Montserrat where we take a tour of a city devastated by a volcanic eruption from 1997.

Episode #9: St. Martin to Montserrat

I really enjoyed your video which was a very professional production. It brought back some fond memories for me as I visited some of the islands you went to on a passage I did on a FP Eleuthera 60 from St Martin & across the Pacific. I have a couple of clips from this region on my YouTube channel which is under the same name as my CF username but they cannot compare to your professional effort.

I have a whole lot of other videos from this passage that I want to edit but before I do this I want to improve my video production methods. May I ask what video editing software you used for your video and did you produce it on a Windows based laptop or a Mac? I have an iPad & Windows laptop but not a Mac. Any advice you could give me about video editing software would be most appreciated.

Re: Episode #9: St. Martin to Montserrat

Thanks for the comment, very nice of you to say. But the software I've used all the way up the current episode was just Windows Movie Maker. It does a pretty good job with just about every aspect of video editing. Its weakness is the audio editing in which I used Audacity to mix all the narration and music - and then I upload that into the Movie Maker.

But that was before, for Episode 10 (that I'm about to release) I've switched to Adobe Premiere Pro (for almost all the video editing and which is the reason #10 has taken so long to release - I had to completely learn how to edit in it). I've seemed to get a little too picky for Movie Maker and I'm wanting more control of the titles, transitions, color, etc.... which you have with Adobe Premiere Pro. I will still use Audacity for the audio mixing. For the basic stuff I'm doing, you won't notice a big difference between Movie Maker and Adobe, but in the long term, Adobe can do so much more than Movie Maker ever thought of.

But as you've seen my episodes, you can see what can be done with it...and for a free program, it does an admirable job of editing video.

Hope this helps a little, and thanks for watching my videos.

Re: Episode #9: St. Martin to Montserrat

I have been resisting the urge to send a PM, email, or post a comment asking, "Where the hell is the next damn video...??????" I have no doubt I am not alone being grateful to hear of its imminent release.

Really fabulous stuff!

I was thinking about you when I read about Hurricane Danny. Since you are in Trinidad, there are no worries, but I bet you got a million e-mails from people back home asking!

Waiting patiently for the new vid! We are living vicariously through you guys till February!
