Make sure you set the anchor with the motor. The holding in the harbour is scetchy. Drop the anchor in one of.the sandy.spots if.you.can..

We are on the way to Key West if you happen to come that way. Would love to see a sister ship! It does look like a lot of storms and rain for the next few days (or more).

Supposed to be a wicked storm coming across the gulf over the Dt and Keys this Friday and Sat, predicting winds 40plus not sure Id want to be in the DT'S for that.

Most likely. We are still off Pennekamp hoping to get some diving in before the winds pick up. Will be in KW by Thurs or Friday. Might have to hang out at Fantasy Fest if we can't go diving

Heading down the keys over Christmas for 2-3 weeks. First time have a 45x24 CAT with 4ft draft...any advice on best marinas and anchorage locations for me ?

Noticed on various sites, charts and Active captain that there seems very limited anchorages and Marinas off Hawks for a CAT with 65 clearance and 4.5 ft draft.

Can someone advise 4-5 places from Biscayne to Key West...and back

Also will be Sailing from December 20 thru Jan 3

There isn't a lot of protection on Hawks channel. We draw 3.5ft and have a 63ft mast. Leaving from Cape FL and heading down Hawks channel, we usually go in Ceasar (watch your depth here!) or Angelfish creek (better choice) for an overnight anchorage. Further south, we have anchored around Rodriguez or Tavernier Key or go in at Snake Creek at Islemorada. You can also go in under the bridge at Matecumbe and find anchorage around one of the small keys. At Marathon there is Boot Key Harbor, which is very popular. I have yet to go into Boot key so cannot speak of it personally. Then we make the jump towards Key West and usually stop at Stock Island Marina. This is a nice facility with good diesel prices.

Tavernier key, good holding close to the no motor buoys,
Sw side of boot key, good holding
Long key, bayou good holding and protection just dont go too far in, at pye key there is a anchorage surrounded by shoals marked on active captain, we love that spot, prettiest sunrises and sunsets...

Will not take much more of your time😏. Any advice for 2-3 week stop over marina in Miami/Biscayne area .

Nearly bought a Leopard 40... Then sailed on my Conser 47 and liked the speed.. But miss the layout of the Leopards.
