pirate Delivery.. Hollywood, Florida to Figuiera da Foz, Portugal.

So.. here I am sitting enjoying the evening thunder, lightning and rain in Harbour Island, Florida..
She's a nice Lagoon 450 in a sweet marina complex all day complimentry coffee n all.
Met some nice folk.. Jason who owns a Colombia 36 I think he said.. could be a 39.. gave us a rode to Publix and waited to bring us back.. now thats friendly.
They have all been nice people to be honest.
Anyway.. looking to sail on Thursday morning when these thunder storms are supposed to move on.. then its up and over the banks and grab as much Easting as I can then curve NE as the wind moves to the SE.
Lotta motor the first two or three days but ot gets me outa the 'Zone' so thats cool.

is there not a hurricane that just formed on the east coast to the north of you?
how many crew on board?
heading for the azores or bermuda first?
sounds like fun apart from the furrycanes!

The first statement answered the main question.. straight to the Azores.. top of the Bahamas then East till I hit SE'lies then veer NE.. why go to Bermuda.. its expensive and in Furrycane Alley..
One crew as usual.. the owner thought I was to old to solo...

Cheers mate..
Oh.. for any visitors to Miami from outside the USA.. don't trust the Yellow Cab drivers.. asked the guy if he knew how to get here.. "Yes Sir.. no problem.."
He then proceeded to get lost and we are cruising along Hollywood Beach and I'm saying wrong side man.. marinas are the other side of the ICW.. he just keeps going.
Finally I'm pissed off and spot 3 cop cars pulled up across the road with three youths sitting on the verge getting turned over.. so I yell at the driver to stop.. get out and go over and say "Excuse me.." nervous cop reaction goes for gun and "What..??"
So I put on my best Brit accent and politely ask how to get to Suntex Marina.. cute lady cop in car 1 dials it up on her screen and says go on till Washington then hang a left and keep going till you see a sign for Harbour Island.. that's it.
So.. a 40 minute cab ride worth according to the locals around $40 took 1.5hrs and cost $103..
Was told to use Uber but.. Portuguese phones don't do Data outside the EU.

have a good trip, there seems to be a bit of a permernent low pressure area to the north of the bahamas with circulation of surface winds conducive to hurricane formation, apart from that seems like the trades are still blowing from the east, waters cool and plenty of dust off the sahara so once off the eastern seabord, should be unlikely there will be hurricanes along your route.for the next month or so.

biggest problem might be sargasso weed, carrying long boat hook might be a good idea for clearing weed from the rudders

The natives are friendly, but nervous!

Wishing you a pleasant trip, and quick riddance to the "zone".

Not sure you spelled that right, thought it was Yellow Crab.

Watch out for Beryl as most of the models have it reforming.
