dealers in Fort Lauderdale

So, we are planning on taking Friday (of boat show">Miami boat Show week) to drive up to Fort Lauderdale to go to some dealers. I googled and found Multihull company, and the Catamaran company.. also Just Catamarans. But, when I looked them up on Google maps... I'm a bit perplexed...

I thought they would be in a marina area.. with boats you could take a look at. I was hoping we could look at some used ones.. But, there is no water around them.. and their buildings don't look big enough to house a cat...

Has anyone here been to either of these places? and if so.. is it even worth our time to run up there?

Main interest would be seeing some used ones...

Just Catamarans are located at HarbuorTown Marina in Dania beach Florida right on the docks. Ask for Kent or Johan. They have several boats. Tell them J.T. sent you. Welcome to Harbour Towne Marina on the Dania Cutoff Canal

Or Jim Adams at the moorings yacht brokerage. He was extremely helpful in the purchase of our cat.

The Cat and Multi companies do have facilities.
www.catamarans.com | Fort Lauderdale

The Multi Co uses the Lauderdale Marine Center. Google Earth these 3 and you can see lotsa cats.

In all honesty the Friday of the Miami boat show is not the best time to come to Fort Lauderdale to look at cats. All of the catamaran brokers will more or less be in Miami working the show. The cost associated with putting a yacht in the show more or less anchors us to the yachts we are showing at MBS…

I would suggest the week after if you are interested in seeing boats in Fort Lauderdale.

Sounds like good advise Scarlet.

Do the show and stay over for a few days.

Re: dealers in Fort Lauderdale

go by Lagoon Yachts and see Ted Novakowski of Sound Yachts -- he has facilities in both FtL and Conn -- he is a great teacher on what makes a great boat and is very patient with new buyers and their needs
he sold us SoulMates - and we worked with him for over a year and boy did he teach us a lot about sailboats and what makes a sailboat - what are the differences between the brands - and he showed us
he also worked hard with the mfg to get us a great deal --
he is a ex crusier so really knows what he is talking about

Dockspace for cats is at a premium, even here in south Florida. I think you will find that the brokers have dozens of cats dispersed thruout Miami-Dade, Broward and West Palm Beach counties at privately owned docks. Several brokers have a bunch of them docked off Las Olas in Ft. Lauderdale (as depicted in the aerial photo). Once you decide what you're looking for, they will set up times/appointments for you to see them. Scarlet, I suggest you contact the brokers before you get here to get the ball rolling and then meet up with them at Bayside.

Thx EmcMia, does anyone have a contact for me that can help me see an FP Mahe of any age?

So far, only internet research but I really would appreciate seeing one from the dock or better yet, stepping on board.

I agree that all of the dealers and brokers will be at the boat show. Kent Grimbeck at Just Catamarans is the man to see. Great guy, honest and candid. He is the best person I have met in the Cat world.

Thanks everyone.. for your input.. unfortunately... we need to get back to our "real lives" on monday.. We did, however, book an appointment to see a couple models at the Catamaran CO... Just interested in seeing what our money can buy in a used model...

So did we. I'll mention our CF association to Caroline. See you on the docks.
