Daggerboard modification to raise and lower under load

I can not move mine if I'm moving, even if I unload them. It's starting to annoy me and I notice on some videos that others can move them even when loaded.

Do those ones run on roller guides or just on some nice low friction guides.

I'm hoping for some retrofit to my existing set up which is a close fit at the underwater hull exit and progressively looser to the top of the deck.

Re: Daggerboard modification to raise and lower under load

On our previous dagger board cat, it came with a super hard antifoul, I don't know which brand, the boards slid up and down no problem when no lateral force, when we started using ablative antifoul they became progressively tighter so after a few years we needed to sand the boards back to glass, and repaint - all was good again. We found the hard antifoul was OK but needed a lot more scrubbing when boat was docked for any length of time which was when we changed to ablative. Reflecting on it now, we should have used ablative on the hulls and hard on the sliding section of the board with ablative on the tips that remain exposed to sea water when fully retracted. Getting the boards completely out from above was a real struggle when they had several layers of old ablative.

Ha, maybe that's all there is to it, I think you're right, it fits. I can't believe I didn't think of that. Doh.......

That will be a nice easy fix. Thanks.
