No it's not just you. Plus that arch must get in the way when the crew are handling lines.

Definitely not just you. I didn't post it because I liked the boat, just clarify the boat the OP was referring to. Not only are they ugly, I highly doubt the "look" will age well.

Funny how tastes differ. We went on board this cat at the Miami boat show and would agree with you, plain ugly. Our friends went on board and loved it!

Re: Choosing my Catamaran

Somehow, the Miami boat show thought differently! The cat in the pictures got (I think) a number of prizes. Inside, this one is spectacular. Outside, I like it too. The beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Or something like that.

And an Outremer being spartan, well, girls stay with your Peppa Pigs and Hello Kitties.

One wants a luxury cat - one gets the one in the pictures above.
One wants a fast cat - one gets and Outremer.

Life could be so much easier if farmers kept on farming!

+ 1, Fully agree,

The reason probable is there is too much going on in the external features of the boat, aft beam curves, targa , and windows,

Anyhow ...somebody must love her but agree the design wont age well.

The interior is a lot smaller compared to other boats the same length, but not that far off compared to other boats the same weight. My only concern is the headroom. Think the Outremer 45 or used 49 would be the ticket.
I was at that boat show too and was really referring to interior space compared to the Privilege for example. The interior was very nice in the Outremer, there was just less of it.

Re: Choosing my Catamaran

This is all great stuff lads i am currently making a list of boats i am interested in. Just a broad list at the moment

Even though i have not sailed any yet i still like the saba 50 the best. i really hope i like sailing it because i really like the layout and look of everything more than any other boat i have seen.

Good discussion though i am getting alot out of it so keep it coming

Also found a good thread called i think saba 50 vs antares which im getting alot out of.

I too like the Saba.. it's layout though is just a little too set up for charter for me. No real owner's version, making space always a compromise. Sit on the WC and you find your knees are against the wall.. not great for a 50ft cat.

I found Saba overwelming large. And prefer the more agile designs (Outremer 51).

But, I will be in LGM in 10 days or so and both boats are at display so will have another look.

Cheers Rob

Apologies that I misunderstood Outremer 5X for the Xquisite X5 (look alike of the Dean 5000?)

Hi Darien, Welcome to CF and thanks for following us on FB. Please feel free to subscribe to our website www.ladyroslyn.com to keep up to date on all the lessons we learn in our journey with our Saba 50.

The other forum members are correct in advising you to charter as many different catamarans as you can. There is no one perfect catamaran, only the perfect catamaran for you. We chartered various sized Lagoons, Leopards and Fountaine Pajot's and each time we came away knowing a bit better what we liked and what we didn't and what we wanted in a boat and what we didn't.

Interestingly it was only by visiting the Cannes Boat Show with all the models side by side that the Saba 50 absolutely jumped out at us and identified itself as "our" perfect catamaran.

Easily half the fun is in the looking, dreaming and learning so go out there and have a blast along the way.

Easy enough of a mistake to make. And yes, Xquisite was formerly Dean Catamarans. The name change was probably an attempt to get away from the negative reputation that Dean had for structural issues.

Yes I was disappointed that they do not have an owners version but I will have a look at the new 47 and compare the two might be a deal breaker not having an owners version but we will see

It is said the New 47 will get a 3 cabins owner version and a 5 cabins charter version. Only those two. Not sure which one is hull number 1
