It's still on sailboatlisting.com but I'm leaning toward keeping it. I scored a Sailrite and some strataglass in the classifieds so I'm gonna make a new awning and enclosure. Also ordered new wire and cones for re-rigging. Gonna paint cockpit this spring. How's your project in Texas going? You should go snag Malihini !!

Got a contract on the spec house so we are looking for a new boat. Malihini appears to be a nice boat but way on the wrong coast! Good news that you may keep your boat. If you change your mind let me know as we will probably be heading up to NC to visit family sometime in the future. Also if you do decide to keep it could you remove the listing from sailboatlistings.com. There are a ton of boats on there that have been sold and no one has taken the time to remove the listing.

Okay Tri Lovers, this is no project, IMHO it's a beaut Tri, so why do you think this beaut looking 42' Tri has still not sold
It's been listed for almost a year and the seller has dropped the price by quite a lot but still, the 42' Tri has not been snapped-up and I'm wondering why

First of all it's only 32 years old. Foam core, wow. In the states I think it would be worth about $40K ish. But I like it.

Beaut Tri.

Where do you park it ? Tri's are really hard and expensive to marina berth. But for an explorer, why not indeed ?

Yes Sand Crab, I know most all boats, (and most other items) are cheaper Stateside but if some Ozzie were to pay $40,000 for that Tri in the States, the buyer would be slugged with the delivery cost, then when the Tri got to Oz the buyer would pay 5% duty then 10% GST (tax) on the 40 grand, plus all the delivery costs, plus the 5% duty! So Ozzie's would be better-of buying that Tri here in Australia and yes mate...I like it too

Same place it's parked now...On the water Marina berths are only for emergencies, me thinks it would be better to hang on the hook off some Island, beach her for cleaning the hull's and go exploring far afield when the mood came on

If that 24' Crowthers was here in Oz, the seller could more that triple his asking price and it would still be considered a cheap boat Have a look at some crazy prices being asked for small Tri's in Oz
As they said in the Ozzie movie, Castles, Tell Them They're Dreaming!

If that Tri is in sound condition, I would buy it quick-smart at 40 grand. I know nothing about Foam Sandwich built boats, so I have no idea on what problems to look for (before calling in a surveyor)...Apart from soft spots in the hull/s. Any ideas on what problems to look for in a FS boat Sand Crab

Re: Cheap Multis and Projects

Most say foam sandwich is the best. It is usually the lightest. Very progressive and expensive for an older boat. Is that an epoxy build?

The Tri was pro' built in 1981 so I'm guessing it would be epoxy but I don't know for sure.
Dam! I wish I could get-up there to check it out.
