Wrecked a perfectly good mono.

I do wonder how the guy planned to seal off those steel beams he punched through the hull. Maybe a whole tube of door & window silicone sealant?

$5,000 is what is shocking, is that what they will pay you to haul it away?
I can hear it now, 'but the trailer is worth $4,000 alone..", "just a little more work, and it will be worth $50,000."

Re: Cheap Multis and Projects

Atlantic Catamaran 46LR = 48'
I am looking for a 99% partner in a project boat that has come to an end due to health issues. I have most of the components built. Pilot house, wing deck Under deck, dagger boards and cases, rudders and posts, cockpit steering station. Fore and aft decks. Cross beams. Mast step ball and socket. Plus more. Looking to get just the materials back out of it, $17,500. Feel free to PM me and we can talk on the phone. I'm in Naples Fl. Parts could be shipped by truck. I can set that up here. Can also work out some air fare off the price if you come and buy.
Thanks

Re: Cheap Multis and Projects

I have a project Farrier Trailer Tri 720 trimaran for sale.
Very nice tandem axle trailer included.
She is all new build and needs completion.
The main hull ribs and side decking is built along with cabin sides.
The beams are built but need skinned.
One float is built but needs the other one built.
Centerboard is built and flaired but needs glassed.
Lots of parts, epoxy, cloth, marine ply etc.
If you ever thought it would be neat to build a trimaran, here is a great start on a new one.
I plan to list an inventory soon.
Located in Wisconsin.

Re: Cheap Multis and Projects

I have checked out that Contour 50 from a short distance a few times while sup paddling when it was at a Navy dock in San Diego harbor. Never seen it sailing though. No doubt that boat and rig was a bottomless pit of squandered tax cattle dollars but it sure is interesting and someones going to end up with an amazing tri for cheap even if they have to replace the rig.

What was squandered? It's an experimental ship. The experiment is over and from rumors I've heard the navy wants an even bigger wingsail.

Unless you're a glutton for punishment you'd be foolish to remove the rigging. In theory, the wingsail is an excellent idea. It's dynamically stable and automatically adjusts itself to the best angle of attack. And it's simple operation makes it perfect for autonomous vessels.

I know wing sails work, I just don't know how well that wing sail works.

Squandered? Its the government for gawd sakes, so of course it was squandered! If it can't be done peacefully and voluntarily in a free market then it shouldn't exist.

Well $78,000 isn't quite what I consider cheap, but it you got the cash to splash it could still be a bargain.

Re: Cheap Multis and Projects

Contour 50s go for well north of $200K so I'm thinkin it was a bargain. It was cheap and it's a project so it fits this thread!

Just wondering how easy it would be to de-power this type of sail when you have to do so in a hurry.
