Re: Cheap Multis and Projects

Interesting to see one of the hurricane salvage boats come on the market in Tortola:

BVI Yacht Sales Ltd. (Physical: Nanny Cay Marina, Nanny Cay, VG1110, British Virgin Islands)

A 2010 Leopard, with no mast. Starboard hull was submerged. Maybe needs a new stbd engine but maybe it's rebuildable. Definitely new wiring throughout and a hell of a lot of elbow grease. Probably much more I'm not thinking of. . . . But for $49,000 it's an interesting proposition.

Re: Cheap Multis and Projects

Okay, this is not a cruising multi (unless you're Ida Little) but I just wanted to link to it in case someone in S. Florida wants to get a fun toy.

A Hobie Wave 13' beach cat with no sail and no trailer. Auction is currently at $41 with 4 days to go. Located in Port Everglades.

Being sold by the Florida Fish and Wildlife Commission (FWC, the dreaded potty police), so probably seized for not having a holding tank. . . .

Re: Cheap Multis and Projects

I would love to take a year off and do it, but you would need a thick check book. Trouble is at the end of it you have a huge yacht which brings its own problems and costs.

Seems its marked as sale pending.

1968 Corinthian 41 Trimaran up for Auction. I visited this boat, when I requested to do a survey the seller declined. It needs a ton of work.

Back in September when that Corinthian was listed in Craigslist for $19,000, CF user guthrie101 mentioned in post #2232 above that it "had a lot of rotten core and soft decks."

"There is nothing more expensive than a cheap boat."

Don't ask how I know this......

It doesn't have to be, a cheap boat should have cheap, err inexpensive expectations.

My thoughts on seeing something like this is that it would make a great hippy boat alternative to a Wharram and not try to do the back to a yacht approach.

My expectation is that somebody will pay too much for it and try to turn it back into a factory configuration proving your point!
