Chartering New England

We are moving are boat to New England , Possibly Newport area to base our new charter business out of.
If anyone has any good tips on where to dock or mooring in and around the newport area would really be helpful.
I lived there 20 years ago and worked on sailboats, and I know alot has changed since those times.
We are booking weekly trips around this area, until we can go south after hurricane season.
Thanks
Tom

Tom it's not clear how big your business is, but your last line seems to imply you have one boat and are doing a crewed charter? In any case if operating out of Newport you should team up with a yacht club or marina that can provide week-long parking for your patrons, as parking near the Newport waterfront is very scarce. An alternative harbor is Jamestown -- much quieter and accessible to restaurants and shopping in Newport via a short water taxi ride across the bay. The water taxi is a small ferry that operates out of Connanicut Marina in Jamestown. You should contact that marina to see if it would be right for you.

Good luck with your venture. There are many nice destinations within a week trip from Newport, and if the weather's bad you can harbor-hop in Narragansett Bay.
