It looks like my C48S ! I think my boat is beachable, but I did not dare doing this so far, and I don't see much advantages to do it : be closer to mosquitoes...? Maybe in some emergencies when you have to work under the floating line and cannot haul out, it is an option.

For those interested, the Catana 531 in the photo is of Tizza on the beach at Isla Tabago, Panama. This type of beach is perfectly suited for beaching cats due to the 15' plus tidal range, the fine soft sand and protection from the prevailing wave direction. Being able to safely beach Tizza was a huge convenience to us as we could easily change out the zincs on the saildrive, perform any maintenance, and give the bottom a quick clean without having to dive or haulout.

Having performed this maneuver many times, the hull design of the 531, and I suspect the 48 as well, proved to be well suited for careening. The stock rudders and saildrive legs sit well above the sand when resting on the beach. In this photo Tizza's rudders were almost touching the sand but this is because they were custom made and larger than the shorter stock Catana rudders. The skegs were also custom made and provided further protection for the saildrive legs. Hope this helps.
