catamaran haul out on west coast
Can someone recommend a facility that can haul a 44ft. cat with 23 ft. beam located south of Monterey north of Mexico? I need to pressure wash, check my sail drives and apply bottom paint. We are headed south from Moss Landing in October. It would be nice if they were open to a little DIY as I am qualified to operate a paint roller. I am aware of the spread sheet that has cat haul out listings but it is over 10 years old. Thanks.

The above. Though any yard which handles much in the way of commercial vessels could easily do the job. Either via a BIG TravelLift, or a crane. And if the latter, it'd take longer to rig the spreader bars than to hoist you in or out, assuming that they'd even need spreader bars.
Which, wherever you haul, & by whatever means, make sure you know what ways are safe to lift your boat. And from what areas of the hull. I've seen a few boats damaged by crane & lift guys not knowing, & the owner not paying attention. Or not knowing himself.
It would suck to ruin your boat & cruise. Especially a pretty one like yours.

Re: catamaran haul out on west coast
I've had work done several times at Ventura boat yard! Mike is the head guy at the yard! I just purchased another boat in SanDiego and had Shelter Island boat yard do the work satisfied, but hard to get in there. Ventura had done bottom on my older boat 3x now. I always got right in. Another good sign is when you see boats from the southern fleets willing to come up to Ventura to have their haul out and work done...that's a good sign!

I've had haul-outs at both Driscoll and Shelter Island Boatyard - both next to each other on shelter island, San Diego. Driscoll's handles everything from 30 footers to the really huge ones coming in from around the world. A little more expensive than Shelter Island Boat Yard.

I have had experience with both Driscoll's and Shelter Island Boat Yard.
I would pick Shelter Island Boat Yard hands down. Ask for Wayne.

Glad to hear Wayne is still there. I had some major work done 10 years ago and they did a first class job. Highly recommend them

Re: catamaran haul out on west coast
Ventura Boat Yard is great, but they give preference to people who do not want to work on the boat themselves. As such, we were not able to haul our cat there last summer and waited until we got to mexico.

HI Mike,
Where in Mexico did you end up hauling your cat. We are heading south and I am interested in a DIY opportunity as well.

HI Guy, are you aware of any specific yards that can haul cats in El Salvador? Thanks.

Re: catamaran haul out on west coast
There is a yard across the river from the marina. How you would get it's name and contact info is beyond me. Perhaps the El Salvador Rally people would know. There was a 44' cat there getting a prop fixed when we were at the marina.
This info is very faint but I think there may be a yard in Puntarenas CR. that can do Cat's also.
