I would never attempt it at night. I will trust my eyes before I trust GPS waypoints and a chart plotter.
We crossed outbound a couple weeks ago and found that the new waypoints were already out of date. We stayed 200m to the north and west of the outer waypoint as the breakers were really heavy on the recommended track.
Of course we went with the tide at the top and even then it was fairly rough.

Anchored at double point after crossing. Want to have a stern anchor here for sure to keep you pointed into the waves as otherwise the roll is horrible due to beam seas wrapping around the point.

Good advice IMO.

It's surprising that the QLD transport states that crossing at night is not discouraged. To me that really does put you at the mercy of the waypoints being right. And they sometimes aren't.

Re: Catamaran flips in Rough Seas - Fraser Island

We crossed last in October 2015. The GPS marks then were different to June 2015. In October they were already about 75 to 100 metres out. A couple of days later the coast guard was advising people to go 100 metres to the north of the marks.

Totally crazy to trust the marks enough to cross at night.

Sorry there have been no new posts and photos for the last few months, the fact is we ran into some bad weather and capsized our home and dreams. Sadly the boat was not salvageable but lucky the two of us onboard at the time came out safe.

The boat was infact CATCHA.

Big grin eh? Are you happy these people lost their home?

I've been hearing about another cat crossing the WBB yesterday. Winds gusting around 40 from the SE and 3 metre swells.

Not worth risking it IMO.

You really are a nasty piece of work.

Why would you be happy these people lost their home?

Yes, ask yourself that. You posted the big grin.

So are you trying to deny that you posted the big grin, pretending you have no understanding of punctuation, or are you just genuinely stupid?

I would agree as to the nasty piece of work. Hopefully it was to much grog speaking and something was lost on the post.
