This is a nice way to avoid a Haul Out.
Fix a prop or a sail drive or Pull a rudder.

Nice to see an alternative method.

This is a picture of a 52 footer in St. Martin.

They 'haul' the aft end of cats by placing a huge Air Lift Bag beneath the bridgedeck, then inflating the bag.

There are "airplane lift bags", "catamaran lift bags" etc.etc. The railroads use air bags to hold cargo in place. These bags are the greatest and this is what everybody is using to lift stuff. Cheap surplus.

I heard someone common on these, only semi in jest, that such a soluction was devised to do the (frequent) servicing on the (high maint.) drive legs on Charter Cats.

I hope they do it in areas where jerks in large power boats do not throw huge wakes.

Changing zincs and oil should be done every 250nm or 2yrs - which is the only maintenance those drives require.

And neither of these require the boat/drive to be out of the water.

I have often thought of a couple of large truck tubes to do much the same thing.
This really makes a cat unsinkable !!

Does anyone know where one can be bought? I think sharing with a few other local cat owners would be a great investment. Does anyone know if they can lift the cat evenly up to expose the hull?

Hi,

we have made quite large air bags from the materials we use for resin infusion - the nylon sheet, the tacky tape, duck tape and irrigation plastic valves. Double tape by sealing one way, turning inside out and seal again. tape the valves into one corner. Use low inflation and small leaks can be topped up. The nylon is tough. We have used to help shape hulls from panels and to move things on land - as large rollers.

I carry 4 - 6000lbs salvage bags on my lagoon450 and have used them to change out the saildrives. May also come in handy is getting off a sand bank.
Subsalv is the company selling them new and used of all sizes. Mainly designed for liking submerged objects but have multiuse.

This is the only way a catamaran is safe at sea.

Even then, it could just flip right over - I wouldn't stand near it.

I used the envelope at TMM in Tortola...put new seals in drives and new zincs.
Used a vacuum cleaner for air...but some cats might experience some coachtop movement at the deadlite corner posts, if envelope is not positioned properly..
