Cat vs Monohull in Seas ?

We were interested in chartering a catamaran from St Lucia to Granada. We have only sailed mono hull generally about 45 to 50ft. How will a 39ft cat handle the water if the seas are rough?

as long as it's not T.S. or hurricane seas it should be fine. We have done that trip before on a chrtered cat and it was great.

My wife is a teacher so we always fly down to the Caribbean the 2nd week of June. One year out or 6 we had depression pass but beside that we usually have been ok. I was going to see about an ASA catamaran course before we go down.

It really depends on whether you are coming down to sail or just using the boat as a mobile residence.
There are a few performance cats, but I doubt there are any in the bare boat fleets down Island. Otherwise, you'll pretty much be running an engine whenever you are sailing, especially to windward.
They can be immeasurably much more comfortable at anchor than a monohull, though in certain conditions the sharp, jerky motion seems much more uncomfortable than our monohull. I have sailed a trimaran 1/2 way around the world and a few cats in Hawaii some years ago, so I am not a prejudiced "monohuller".
