Cat Hits Reef and Sinks.

Well OK it didn't sink completely. But it sank a LOT. Still able to motor for 9 hours to safety though. But it sank right? I mean they ripped the arse out of both hulls.

It MUST have sunk. The Titanic sank, right?

Re: Cat Hits Reef and Sinks.

Well built mono from '70 or '80 ies will never get holed. Newer are not true monos anyway.

You should know this by now as you spent enough time on CF.

Ouch. They pulled off a good recovery though. That would be hard with a young able crew yet alone these guys.
Well done

Re: Cat Hits Reef and Sinks.

Wouldn't have sunk if it had diesels instead of outboards. When are people going to learn.

good point.

"Andre and Hazel did temporary repairs with sikaflex and plywood to try to block the holes that were formed by being bounced on the rock/reef."

How do you do that if holes underwater?

great add for sikaflex. Will have a look.

Re: Cat Hits Reef and Sinks.

Wow, they motored a sunken catamaran with both hulls holed for 9 hours?

Was that one of the SPECWAR outboards?

Re: Cat Hits Reef and Sinks.

"We haven’t established the location of the rocks as of yet and at some point I will catch up with him and try to at least get a general area to warn about."

If it was a mono, they would have an accurate location for that reef to warn others about it.

Re: Cat Hits Reef and Sinks.

Gee sorry gentlemen.
Silly me for thinking that this boat and crew did it hard.

OK, sarcasm detector has been stood down.

You guys are a bit sensitive don't you think? I say less rum and more caution when navigating.

They flipped after they sank, not enough weight in those outboard powered cats to keep them the right way up.

Have to agree with you, almost like a religion but maybe even more insecure!
