My guess is if they had used a CQR anchor they wouldn't have flipped.

Yes and judging from this past month, all monos are looking for an excuse to dive to the bottom

Holding well enough to flip a heavy cat could be the litmus test for the anchoring threads.

That's funny your non sense discussion (I mean both of you) but the truth is that there are unsinkable cruising monohulls, but there are no cruising multihulls able to re-right themselves. Anyway those monohull cruisers are a small minority and even if it is a nice feature I would not chose a boat over that particular characteristic.
