C & C Catamarans???
Has anyone heard of a C & C Logical catamaran? Any information -- pros, cons appreciated. I didn't know C & C manufactured any catmarans, but apparently they made a few in the early '80s. We just saw the following on yacht world and were curious. It is BIG, but the price is in our ballpark.
1983 C&C Yachts 41.5 Sail Boat For Sale - www.yachtworld.com We are interested in a catamaran for cruising the Caribbean and live aboard. Currently living aboard a 48' motor vessel that we are preparing to sell. Cheers!

I think they were Terry Compton designs (he designed the Solaris) and marketed by Bill Symons. A lot of money was wasted (in my view) on tank testing and development for what is basically a 40ft Catalac. No one was surprised when they only sold a few.
I don't suppose that it sails very well Alternatives might be an Apache, a Prout Quasar (or the older 45fter) a 12m(40ft) Catalac or of course the 40ft Solaris which was hugely popular in the UK in the 1970's While of course going to view/buy/refit a boat in Venezuela is a huge drawback I hope this answers the question Richard Woods of Woods Designs www.sailingcatamarans.com |

That C&C cat is the best boat they ever made.

Richard -- If I could find a Solaris 40 or Prout 45 Ocean ranger, I'd jump on it. We are already investigating a Catalac 12M. I agree, trying to even look at a boat in Venezuela would be a pain.
Do you have any details about it? thanks!

Hey Sailorgal,
No, I really don't know anything about them I was just trying to tweak a guy that has a big C&C lead dog that posts on the multi threads sometimes. I heard about a yard in Puerto La Cruz Venezuela that has favorable rates for repairs. Lats and Atts had several articles about it. I do believe they allow for do it yourselfers.

This boat looks as though it has just had alot of work on the insides at least as well as recent canvas work, might be a great deal. Maybe get the owner to sail it over to a more friendly shore for viewing?
