Buying Yacht in Indonesia

Hi All, I'm new to forum and after information on legaly getting a yacht that I want to buy and is registered in Indonesia out off the country by sailing. I have heared that you require a Indonesian skipper to sail it out and what kind of duties that I would have to pay on secondhand Yacht. Rgds the old bull

OK you must get the boat on the Aust shipping register, to do that you must be able to prove ownership and the boat must be clear of any other nations flag ie not be on anyone else s shipping register.
If the boat has only been on the local Indonesian register it should be easy.
If the Indonesian's have any special rules it shouldn't be too hard to pay the required fee to get what you want if you catch my drift.

what kind of duties that I would have to pay on secondhand Yacht. Rgds the old bull[/QUOTE]

If by this you are referring to Australian charges when you arrive back, you will have to pay 5% duty on the value of the boat then 10% GST on that total value i.e. $100,000 + 5% = $105,000 + 10% = total $115,500 Then customs will deem a charge for the delivery even though you have sailed it back and that will also attact the 10% GST. you are in fact classed as importing goods into Australia. Good luck.

Re: Buying Yacht in Indonesia

Yes but the delivery costs should be low, remember it's from the last port outside Australia.
With a volunteer crew it would only be a few hundred dollars so you should be up for less than $50 GST.
Go for it!
