I am planning to install a blog add on here at Cruisers Forum. We would love to showcase your project and it would be highly integrated so it would be a real contribution to the community if you would you our software. I will have the new software setup here on Cruisers Forum by the weekend and maybe you could check it out and see if it has all the features to make blogging easier. It's our hope that members will have a couple different types of blogs (boat building/restoration and travel blogs with photos of their journeys). We really need to get a few people to lead the charge and show others how it will work. We would he honored to have your project on our system!

The Mac iPhoto photo system you are using right now has a very nice Blog set up for adding photos of construction and even has an RSS subscribe.

Yep, I read it carefully. The only thing from the blog that I'm looking into is switching the refrigeration to a self contained unit like this one - WAECO mobile solutions - Compressor refrigerators

Good luck with your project and I think documenting your thought process during the build and sharing it with other like minded sailor/builders will pay you many dividends in brainstorming solutions and qualifying decisions that later on may be forgotten.

The one part I don’t understand is why someone would need to register their email in order to read your blog. I personally would be wary of giving my email details out to a new project unless I monitored it for a while to get a sense of those who administers it.

Do you think registering people enhances your own security to give out personal info on the main blog?

Once I knew that the owner of the blog is serious and I have something useful to contribute, I would then register and try to help, but I would need to monitor it first.

In the meantime, doing as Andy suggests makes more sense to start with as I trust CF because they have a good history of management and they protect my email from spammers.

We are building at Alwoplast in Valdivia Chile.

There aren't any "already done" Atlantic 57's available and I don't expect any in the next couple of years but maybe. If so, I suspect they will not be discounted much for being used.

May I suggest that you choose/specify the following regardinf cooling:

Minimum 3"/80 mm insulation for fridges
MInimum 4"/100 mm for freezers.
Water cooled condensers
Preferably only top opening boxes.

Refrigeration is one of the major power guzzlers on board, by following the advice above you can probably cut the energy consumption down with anything from 50 to 75%. The hotter it gets the bigger the savings.

While I agree that insulation is key. If you really want to make best use of the available power, use 6" minimum of insulation designed for fridges-freezers for top and sides, and 4" at the base. Also use a proper keel cooler to cool the refrigerant. that way your duty cycle on the compressor will be about 30%.

The advice on top loading is very good! Otherwise every time you open up, you lose a significant proportion of cool air.
