Broker in Florida

Has anyone had an especially good experience with a broker in Florida (or bad I suppose) and would be willing to pass on a personal reference? Looking to buy a Lagoon this summer and am not familiar with the community in Florida.

I would highly recommend David Walters Yachts in Ft Lauderdale, David has helped us on both the buy and sell side of transactions in the past. Amazingly detailed oriented and professional.

Re: Broker in Florida

Be sure to meet Kent Grimbeek at Just Catamarans in
  • The Lauderdale Marine Center
  • 2019 SW 20th St # 220
  • Ft. Lauderdale, FL 33315
  • 954-713-0414
  • 954-713-0322
  • justcatamarans.net
I met him several years ago and was very impressed with his knowledge of cats, from sailing them to fixing them to selling them. There aren't enough straight shooters in this business, but Kent is one. He was Service Manager at 2 Hulls with John Sykes, and struck out on his own when John retired. That was a tough way to learn the business!

Re: Broker in Florida

I know someone who bought a boat through Kent as well and they have very good things to say about him. I spoke with him a while ago about a particular cat and he was very knowledgeable and helpful. I would use him.

Re: Broker in Florida

Don Buckles, owner of Navigator Yacht Sales. He has been selling cats for over 20 years. Reps. Catana and nauticats. He worked with me for over a year. Then we purchased a 2003 St Francis. He represented us through the whole process.
Contact me by PM for the details.
Also, he referred me to highly capable electronic and electrical serviceman, sea captain and general mechanic as well as Collin Mack of Mack Sails who has personally been to the boat twice to help me.

Give him a call.

Re: Broker in Florida

We co-brokered a Leopard sale with Kent. He seemed like a good guy.

Re: Broker in Florida

Would appreciate all the good contacts you could give me. We don't know the area nor the local industry. We don't have the boat so again we may or may not require trades so any advice would be welcome.

Re: Broker in Florida

I recommend Catamarans.com. They are the only dealers in Florida who have ever been able to SHOW me a catamaran, rather than just talk about it. Better, they have their own collection of used Lagoons sitting in the water, in one place, and all for sale. They are also a new Lagoon dealer.

Their "showroom" is near Fort Lauderdale near a picturesque downtown area.
