bottom paint

How many gallons of ablative are needed for a 60" cat.
If you have a favorite paint for the NE (US) I'd like to know.
Any experience with JD Select? (Jamestown Distrib.)
Don't know what FP used but it held up quite well for two years.

Re: bottom paint

I use one gallon per hull and a gallon to go around the waterline again and other high wear areas. I have a 47 foot cat. I had three gallons arrive at my house two days ago. My boat is about half prepped for painting, hope to finish prepping this weekend.

I use SUPER SHIP BOTTOM out of Florida, they ship it directly to my house. The paint has the highest copper content allowed , I have used it for over ten years now.

FYI, there is no "highest copper content allowed." And Super Ship Bottom doesn't even have the highest copper content available.

Thanks for clearing that up. I must have my facts wrong about them having the highest, but I do believe there is a maximum. I'll have to research that when I have time. But the fact that is what I use, have used and have great results with. You cannot dispute that, fsbttms.

Re: bottom paint

The paint that FP used is Seajet Platinum 039; it cannot be purchased here in the US, too bad because the boat was in the water for almost three years and had very little growth.
I think I'll give Super Ship Bottom a try and see how it holds up. Spoke with them and they were very nice on the phone. 80sq meters is the area to be covered so I think 5 gals. will be enough. I'll post the progress.
Thanks to all.

Please do. I'd be very interested in what you come up with.

Hey, if you're happy with the product's performance, then it works.
